Pheromones are chemicals that are secreted in our sweat and other bodily fluids that are believed to influence the behavior of the opposite sex, such as triggering sexual interest and excitement. Like adding spice to your favorite food, these hormone-enhanced products are believed to increase your natural appeal.
Have you ever wondered why some people seem to get “lucky” more often than others? Or have you seen a couple just “hit it off” right away after meeting for the first time? Some people call it “great chemistry“ but we know that part of what makes up this attraction is pheromones.
Scientists have long hypothesized that these hormones are natural sexual attractants that have a powerful influence on mating habits. In fact, several studies have shown that people who produce higher than average amounts of pheromones have greater success with members of the opposite sex.
Does that mean that when humans smell them, we act like love-crazed tom-cats ready to pounce on any member of the opposite sex that happens to be nearby? Not exactly. The effects of these hormones on humans are more subtle, but nonetheless, powerful. How powerful? Read below…
An article on WebMD cited a study which documented the sexual activity of men while using pheromones. The results of the study showed that users of pheromones had:
- higher frequency of dates
- greater frequency of affectionate gestures
- more time sleeping next to a romantic partner
- increased frequency of foreplay
- increased frequency of sexual intercourse
ABC’s 20/20 News recently tested the effectiveness of these hormones by sending a set of twins to a speed dating event and only giving pheromones to one twin in each set. The results? The twin wearing them received nearly twice as much interest and dates as compared to the twin not wearing them!
